Sophomore Slump or Comeback of the Year: Disney Moments – Part I

4 Oct

Ok, I know it’s been an extremely long time since I posted anything of substance and I apologize.  I’m hoping to come back into the blogging sphere with a vengeance and make it up to you guys.

For my first post back  I’d like to write about something special to me…. DISNEY.  I’m sure there are a few people rolling your eyes as you read this, and that’s fine, everyone has his/her opinion.  Continuing on, Disney, Disneyland, Disneyworld, Walt Disney, all mean something very important to me, and I wanted to share my thoughts and feelings with you.

If you know me, then you know I’m some-what of a Disney fanatic.  I’m not a hardcore fanatic, just a lover of Walt work, his vision, his thirst for adventure, and his positive mission.  When I was younger, some of the best memories I’ve had were at Disneyland/world.  The last family trip I took with my family was to Disneyworld, where we stayed at the New Orleans and ate beignets and creole food, and went horseback riding.  I remember riding the teacups with my father and laughing my ass off spinning in circles.  The best part was breaking bread with Goofy for the character breakfast with my family!

I can go on forever about this but to get to the point….

This year, I felt like I was losing the Disney spirit.  The word “Disney” was turning into Hannah Montana merchandise, and I felt Disney was veering from Walt’s original vision depicted in features like Snow White, Silly Symphonies, and Goofy teaching you how to play football.  I was a member of the Walt Disney Family Museum, so I got the opportunity to learn more about him, and came to respect him so much more from doing so.

Lucky for me, a few friends asked if I wanted to join them on a weekend getaway to Disneyland.  I’m glad I jumped at the opportunity to go because it reignited my love for the place.  All my doubts were replaced with great new memories made on this trip with my two friends, one who was getting married the following month.  Here are a few pictures from this recent trip.  All I gotta say is…..

I soooo wanted to get that Mickey sweatshirt with the ears but they only had it in a kids large which was too small for me.  Another highlight of the trip, Oswald making appearances here and there in the parks!

Needless to say, this trip saved me from doubting anything further, and even though Disney has been changing and evolving, I can still cherish memories I have from past trips, as well as make new ones because Walt’s vision and dream are still encapsulated in Disneyland, just look at the revival of Oswald!

I will be posting about more awesomeness from this trip so please STAY TUNED!
